FAQs about Cake Orders
Q: What flavors do you make cakes and frostings in?
A: The sky's the limit! All cake proposals will have classic flavors included in your quote (Vanilla, Chocolate, Almond, Strawberry). But if you're craving something special (Chai, Pistachio, Earl Grey, Lavender, etc), we can customize your cake flavor for an additional cost. Please reference the Cake Menu for more info on Showstopper and Premium Sponges.
As for frosting and filling, Hello Cakery's Swiss Meringue Buttercream is the gold standard, but variety is the spice of life, so we have some truly special flavors and fillings -- many of which are made with Swiss Meringue Buttercream as their base. Please reference the Cake Menu for more info.
Q: How much do your cakes cost?
A: Each cake I design requires a different level of skill, different tools, and has a variety of flavor and artistic choices you can tweak. The best way to know the cost of a cake is to request a consultation!
That said, if you want a general idea of Hello's cake pricing: Wedding cakes require thoughtful consultation meetings and tastings, as well as delivery, set-up, and other special care. If you want to think about cake cost in terms of price-per-serving, these extra considerations are what make wedding cake servings cost more than celebration cake servings. Wedding-sized servings (1"x2") on a large cake start at about $6 a guest for the most basic buttercream designs. Smaller cakes, more elaborate designs, and artful touches can range from $8 to $17 per serving.
Let's chat about non-wedding cakes! As most clients choose to pick up their celebration cakes, and there' not typically a formal consult/tasting, celebration cakes generally cost less per serving.
Depending on the flavors you'd like, and the complexity and design of a celebration cake, the cost per serving generally ranges from $4 to $16.
Q: Do you require a deposit for cake orders?
A: Yes! I invest in special tools and premium ingredients to make each cake exquisite, so wedding cake orders require a 50% deposit, due at time of booking. Half of this 50% deposit is non-refundable.
The remaining balance is due at pickup or delivery. The exception is for cakes over $200, for which the remainder is due one week before pickup or delivery.
If you're booking a celebration cake, my default is to book the full balance, as most of my clients have preferred this convenience, but please just let me know if you prefer to book with 50% and I'll set up your order form to accommodate that!
Q: Do you offer any special incentives to pay the full order balance at booking?
A: I'm so glad you asked. If you’d like to pay the full balance at booking (by cash or check only, not credit card), you’ll receive a complimentary dozen macarons with your order of $200 or more! In the time of Covid, all orders are done online (by credit card) by default, but if you'd like to go the cash/check route please just let me know.
As another bonus, wedding cakes ($500 or more) paid in full by check or cash are eligible for fun, free bonuses like a free anniversary cake for you and your Honey.
Q: What's your cancellation policy?
A: Cancellations four weeks or more before the order is due are eligible for a refund of all but the non-refundable portion of the deposit (which is half of the deposit, or 25% of the order total).
If you need to cancel for an emergency after the four-week cutoff, please reach out to Steph@hellocakeryandmacarons.com and we can discuss reallocating your deposit or order amount for a future order.
Q: Do you deliver orders?
A: You can pickup your order for free, or have it delivered within Las Cruces for a $35 delivery fee. For weddings, delivery and setup is higher than $35 (depending on the time I'll spend setting up your particular order) and included in your quoted price unless you elect to pick up your order. Hello Cakery & Macarons bears no responsibility for any damage to cakes after pick up.
Q: Are there any limitations on decorations?
A: As we'll discuss before your booking, fresh flowers that are not food-grade will be stem-wrapped in floral tape or dipped in a food-safe barrier coating, but Hello Cakery & Macarons bears no responsibility for fresh flower safety. My licensing prohibits me from decorating with (cut) fresh fruit garnishes. Other than that, let's get creative!
Q: Do cakes come with a cake stand?
A: They can! By default your order will come on a one-time-use cake board. It can then be put on your cake stand, or you can add one to your order. You can also borrow a cake stand from Hello Cakery for a refundable deposit (not taxed on your order).
Any equipment deposit, such as for a cake stand or macaron tower, will be refunded to you when the item is returned in the same condition within two-weeks of your order delivery or pickup.

Classic Cake Sponge Flavors
Basic Sponge flavors (Included) are extract-based gourmet vanilla, strawberry, and almond. Chocolate is also included
Classic Swiss Meringue Buttercream
Silky, never grainy, and perfectly buttery. Hello’s go-to frosting is a gourmet vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream. If we choose a different type of frosting, it’s usually for aesthetic considerations (e.g., a Crusting Buttercream is better for a warm venue where smooth, no-fondant sides are showcased). Please see "Special Fillings" below as well
First Anniversary Cake
Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference. I’ll make sure to leave a cake box for your cake cutter to store your top tier or two servings. As long as you designate a trusted cake-guardian to seal the edges with packing tape and freeze the box, you’ll be enjoying sweet memories and flavors on your first anniversary
